“Just being in a space like this, where I didn’t have to explain myself, brought an immediate sense of ease and relief. I didn’t realize how much my body needed that.”
- Exhale participant
Exhale is a recurring space for wom[e/x]n of color leaders to recover, reflect, connect and strategize together on how to move beyond survival mode.
In response to what we continue to hear from wom[e/x]n of color leaders - the pressure, the brilliance, the isolation, and the desire for a space that feels like ours - we have created a monthly facilitated gathering designed to offer connection, insight, and resourcing in a safety-building community created specifically for wom[e/x]n of color leaders.
It’s a space to pause, reflect, and be in community - in order to be better resourced as we navigate sustained pressure, and invisible labor while experiencing systemic disruption, often without places that allow for both truth and strategy.
What we’re building together:
Community, referral space, and support that lives outside of organizational institutions
Recovery practices that honor the cellular impact of workplace harm
Resistance strategies rooted in community research and our collective wisdom
Frameworks that make invisible labor visible and actionable
Cross-racial solidarity that doesn't flatten our distinct experiences combined with affinity spaces that offer support without explanation
Each gathering is part of a longer arc of listening, learning, and co-creating what leadership can look like when survival is no longer the ceiling.
This month we're exploring:
What recovery actually means when you can't just "take a break" from systemic pressure
How women of color have always shaped leadership (even when that labor stayed invisible)
What you need that you'd actually invest in
What to expect:
A brief mindful moment to settle and arrive
Light check-in and community reflection
Conversation grounded in sustainability and leadership beyond survival mode
A supportive, low-stakes space where listening is participation
Sharing is always optional.
Who this space is for
EXHALE is for women of color leaders who want:
Connection without performance
Space that honors lived experience
Community outside organizational institutions
Our definition of woman is expansive and inclusive of trans women, non-binary femmes, masculine-presenting women, and all who experience the world through this lens.
