Alethea Cheng Fitzpatrick

Principal & Founder | Senior DEI Consultant | Director of Strategy & Design

Alethea Cheng Fitzpatrick (she/her) is a British born Chinese American, the immigrant daughter to immigrant parents and oldest child of two. She was born and raised in the UK and came to NYC after high school, heaving a huge sigh of relief she didn’t know she needed at the diversity, energy and freedom of the city she has come to call home. She got her Bachelor of Architecture from Pratt Institute and has lived in Brooklyn ever since. After practicing architecture for many years, and through a variety of professional and personal twists and turns, she founded Co-Creating Inclusion out of a desire to have a greater impact, in alignment with her values, beliefs and talents.

Alethea considers herself to be a CREATIVE at heart, using her architect brain daily to help transform organizations as they shift towards equity and inclusion. As a consultant, she is in her element when she has the opportunity to impact all aspects of an organization through an integrated approach that leverages her ability to deal with ambiguity while driving the work forward. As a skilled and experienced coach and facilitator, she can uncover obstacles and next steps that others have a harder time seeing, thus helping people get unstuck and create the results they want.

Alethea thrives under the messy and uncertain conditions of change and is most energized when she has the opportunity to identify patterns and themes, make unexpected connections between seemingly disparate elements, iterate across projects and clients, and develop theory and practice concurrently.

As Director of Strategy & Design at Co-Creating Inclusion, Alethea leads the work to understand where organizations are, collaborating with staff from across an organization to imagine and realize transformational change through the design and implementation of DEI strategy.

What brings Alethea to this work is her understanding that refusing to align with whiteness as a system of power and instead aligning with Black, Indigenous and other people of color to dismantle the systems of oppression that are all interconnected will create a better world for all, including her husband and 10 and 13 year old boys.

Alethea holds a Diversity and Inclusion Certificate from Cornell University, is an MBTI Certified Practitioner and certified leadership and women’s leadership coach. As an architect, Alethea spent almost 20 years managing workplace strategy and corporate headquarters projects for large global companies, with firms such as STUDIOS Architecture, Skolnick Architecture and Gensler, and she is still currently licensed to practice architecture.
